1) First things first, call and make an appointment!
It is always good to give a few days leeway time to ensure you are able to schedule the day and time that works best for you! Have a few days and times available just in case your first choice is unavailable.
When you call be prepared to answer a few questions regarding cake flavors and how many people will be attending the tasting.
2) Know the flavors you wish to sample!
The Taste and Sea Team encourages you to think outside of the box when choosing flavors. Remember this is your day! Don’t limit yourself to only sampling chocolate if you know you like almond cake with a zesty lemon buttercream and a dash of cinnamon to spice things up! No flavor is too obscure or unattainable!
If you prefer having a dessert table versus a cake you can sample those tasty treats too! Select from bars and brownies to cookies and cupcakes, as well as an elegant side of French petite fours. We recommend choosing 5-7 mini pastries to sample!
If you have any challenges selecting specific flavors you can always refer to our website where you will find a wide variety to choose from.
If this is too overwhelming, feel free to call and speak with one of our consultants! We are always available and delighted to walk you through the process! We understand that there are a lot of details regarding every decision that needs to be made for your wedding. So do not worry! We will provide you with some sugar and coffee and everything will be loads better!
3) Be sure to think about the vision for your special day.
Is there an exact design you have for your cake that you are absolutely in love with? Bring pictures with you! Not only will this help us capture the fullness of your vision; it will also give us a better idea how to cost out your cake so that you can leave with an exact price estimate by the end of your appointment!
Are there specific colors you want to include? If so bring some fabric samples. This is always a good idea to ensure your vision of blush pink is the same as ours! No room for mistakes here.
Do you want a theme? The more details you have the better we can assist you to bring ease and joy to your tasting experience.
How many people are on the guest list? The more exact count the better we can assist you to give you an accurate estimate before you leave!
4) Bring people you enjoy the-company-of to share your tasting appointment.
You are eating cake! This is one of the best parts of planning. I have never met anyone that doesn't smile and have fun while eating dessert. So invite those that will aid in your decisions and take the pressure off of you. This will make things not only fun and easy AND will make one of the best memories you will have while planning your wedding!!
5) When booking your wedding plan to pay a 50% deposit!
This will hold your spot to ensure nothing else is booked to interfere with your special day. This is especially important during peak season or if you get married around the Holidays! Once a deposit is made you are golden! You will not have to worry about paying the remaining amount until the week before you say “I DO”.
6) Important Questions you may be asked at the tasting…
- How many people are on the guest list?
- Do you have a venue? If so, where?
- Will the cake/dessert table be outside or indoors?
- Will we be delivering/setting up?
- What is your budget?
- Do you have a cake platter/cutting knives?
- Do you have a cake topper? If so do you plan on giving it to us before hand or at the venue
- Do you want fresh flowers displayed on your cake or any other decorative elements?
